Connection rules

The eduroam network can be accessed by users with valid permissions provided by their home university. Students and staff with an active IS account are eligible to connect to eduroam at the University of Applied Sciences.

Rules of use

The rules for using the Eduroam network are defined by the roaming policy of the network. Users have the following obligations:

• Each roaming user is required to abide by the roaming terms of the guest and home network as well as the CESNET Academic Network Acceptable Use Policy - see. www.cesnet.cz.
• Each roaming user is required to respond promptly to calls and instructions from the guest and home network administration and the Cesnet roaming center.
• Each roaming user is fully responsible for the misuse of his/her login credentials (password, certificate, ...) allowing him/her to access the network.

Acceptable Use Policy

Users may not use this network for activities that:

• enable or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the resources of connected networks
• violate intellectual property rights
• adversely affect the operation of the network or its individual services, prevent users from accessing those services, jeopardise the operation of the network or unduly restrict its performance
• wastes network capacity
• destroy the integrity of information stored on computers and other network elements
• limit user privacy

Network limitations at the VŠPJ

• only IPv4 is supported,
• IPv4 address is assigned using DHCP,
• addresses in the range 10.82.0.0/16 are assigned,
• ports 25, 135, 137, 138, 139, 445 are blocked,
• peer to peer networking is not allowed.

Network Monitoring

The operation of all computer networks at the College of Education is monitored.

The following data is monitored and logged on the eduroam network:
( in accordance with the Roaming Policy of the Czech Federation of eduroam )

• information about authentication requests with exact time,
• DHCP transactions - assigned IP addresses to MAC addresses in a time slot,

This data is retained for a minimum of 6 months.

Access blocking

In case of a violation of the rules, the user may be restricted (blocked) from accessing the eduroam network.

If the computer is spreading unwanted traffic, even without the knowledge of the computer owner, the user will be blocked from accessing the network for not taking proper care of the equipment being used. Therefore, take sufficient care to secure your computer.
